Mini-Teardrop Trailer

Follow the progress of the construction.

Starting with a trailer from Harbor Freight for $169.00

Next a trip to the lumber yard for 2 sheets of 3/4" plywood and some 1x2's

I drew the shape on Autocad before I started.

February 14, 03 - The front is a 12" radius and the rear is a 36" radius.  I used 1/4" but it's very hard to hard with.  George at Teardrop Parts said there was a 1/4" "bendable" plywood that would make the radius.  I will use 1/8" on my next one and use two layers.

The bows were cut from the left over 3/4" plywood to match the sides

February 28, 03 - After a false start trying to 1/4" plywood for the hatch, I tried again with 1/8".. The 1/4" was too strong and bowed my bows out of shape.

March 3, 03 - The .032 aluminum went on pretty smooth.  Still waiting on the trim pieces.  The interior is a rubber flooring material.  The interior is stained mainly to protect from water damage ,etc.

All the hinges and hardware are coming form George @ http://www.teardropparts.com/

Go to Diane & Larry's webpage for ideas and very detailed help on building a teardrop.  My thanks to them.  http://www.outbackteardrop.com/index.htm
